Holiday Inn hotel opens in Telavi, east Georgia

One of the largest hotel groups worldwide, Holiday Inn, has opened a new 85-room hotel in Telavi, Georgia's eastern province of Kakheti.

Holiday Inn Telavi is the first international brand hotel in the city.

Total investment in the hotel project is 15 million GEL ($5.1 million/€4.6 million).

65 people have been employed in the hotel,'' said Economy Minister Natia Turnava today at the opening ceremony of the hotel.

The [government’s] main goal is creating new jobs, especially in the regions…I will visit all objects where new jobs will be created…” said Turnava.

The open lobby bar type hotel is equipped with board games and screens. Also, there is a sauna, steam bath and an open-air swimming pool with a panoramic view.

On the first floor of the hotel there is a restaurant with Georgian traditional cuisine. Also, on the fifth floor there is the European restaurant and bar with a view of the river Alazani valley and the Caucasus Mountains.

In the hotel there is also a conference hall for fifty people.

The project is carried out by the technical and financial support of Hotel Industry Incentive by Enterprise Georgia.

The incentive promotes hospitality business in Georgia, creates jobs, attracts tourists and therefore develops the economy of the country. The incentive is created to enter international hotel brands through franchise or management contracts and finances royalty fees of franchisee.

Holiday Inn was already represented in the country’s capital city of Tbilisi, in the city’s central business area.

Holiday Inn Tbilisi opened in December 2010.

Holiday Inn Telavi is one of the 114 hotels which have been opened by the support of Enterprise Georgia.

Economy Minister Natia Turnava said that more than 530 enterprises and hotels were opened and more than 18,000 new jobs have been created within the Hotel Industry Incentive by the Enterprise Georgia.
