Five individuals have been detained for sale of drugs by Central Criminal Police Department in Tbilisi, Ponichala district and Gardabani municipality today, Director of the Central Criminal Department Mamuka Chelidze announced at a briefing today.
Police seized 11 packages of heroin and 20,970 GEL as a result of personal and residential home search.
The detainees face from six to eleven years in jail.
Director of the Central Criminal Department Mamuka Chelidze said at a briefing today that the police officers have seized the following narcotic substances since January 1:
- 26,2 kg heroine,
- 2 kg cocaine,
- 13,700 pills subutex and suboxone,
- 23.1 kg MDMA,
- About 9 kg of psychoactive substances,
- 1,600 kg psychotropic medications.
Georgian police have seized heroin in especially large quantities from a Turkish citizen in Georgia’s western coastal city of Batumi. The individual, who was identified as M.I., 46, has been charged with the possession of drugs.
Police have detained six individuals for the purchase and possession of drugs on September 24.

Police detained four for drug offenses including two drug dealers on August 11. Two of the detainees were arrested on the Tbilisi – Senaki – Leselidze highway. 1,002 pills of Subutex and 293 pills of MDMA were seized as the police officers searched the vehicle.
Six drug traffickers have been detained in Tbilisi, in Ponichala district this month, with large quantity of drugs confiscated, the Georgian Interior Ministry has reported earlier today.
Police have detained nine drug dealers in the Ponichala district in Tbilisi. If convicted, the detainees face eight to 20 years of imprisonment or life imprisonment.
Police officers of the Main Division for Illicit Drug Trafficking have detained four drug dealers and seized a large quantity of drugs in Tbilisi and Marneuli municipality in eastern Georgia.
Georgian law enforcers of the MIA Central Criminal Police Department have detained 11 drug dealers in Ponichala district in Tbilisi today.
