Georgian revenue in wine exports up 16% in comparison to last year

Georgia exported 19.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+44%) and 473,200 bottles of Chacha (+65%) abroad in 2019.

Georgia received 16% more in revenue from the export of wine in the first nine months of 2019 in comparison to the same period last year, the Georgian National Wine Agency reports. 

Georgia has so far received $164 million in revenue from the sale of wine abroad in 2019. 

The top 10 countries importing the most bottles of Georgian wine in 2019 are: 

  • Russia – 41,112,235 bottles
  • Ukraine – 6,766,841 bottles
  • China – 5,334,939 bottles
  • Poland – 2,905,371 bottles
  • Kazakhstan – 2,477,358 bottles
  • Belarus – 1,008,888 bottles
  • Latvia – 988,122 bottles
  • US – 533,206 bottles
  • Lithuania – 503,831 bottles
  • Estonia – 499,736 bottles

To European countries:

  • UK – 40 % increase (93,067 bottles)
  • The Netherlands – 21% increase (73,078 bottles)
  • Czech Republic – 102% increase (62,700 bottles)
  • Sweden – 397% increase (55,506 bottles)

 Meanwhile, Georgia exported 19.5 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+44%) and 473,200 bottles of Chacha (+65%) abroad in 2019. 

Export revenue from Chacha reached $1.3 million, which is 54% higher than 2018.

In total, Georgia has sold $236 million worth of alcoholic beverages in the first nine months of  2019, including wine, brandy, Chacha and others.
