Independent MP Eka Belesia, who once was a member of the Georgian Dream ruling party, attacked ruling party MP Vano Zardiashvili during the hearing for a candidate to the Supreme Court during the Legal Issues Committee meeting of parliament earlier today.
Beselia attacked Zardiashvili after the latter mentioned Beselia’s ‘morality,’ allegedly in a negative context.
Beselia told the media that Zardiashvili “was instructed by the ruling party” to stage the provocation as several of the candidates for the Supreme Court judge are unable to answer her and other MPs’ critical questions.
Zardiashvili spoke on behalf of the ruling party and I place the whole responsibility for the incident onto the founder of the Georgian Dream party Bidzina Ivanishvili,” Beselia said, adding that she “was unable to stay calm’ as Zardiashvili provoked her several times during the meeting.
Beselia, who earlier served as Ivanishvili’s lawyer, also ‘warned’ Ivanishvili to wait for her responses if he ‘maintains the current methods of fighting’ against her.
Zardiashvili stated he did not say anything irritating, adding that Beselia, 'who is at the bottom of her career," is trying to attract the public attention with the use "of such methods."
