9,000 tonnes of grapes in 24 hours - the highest harvest rate of the past 30 years

The volume of grapes processed on a daily basis in Georgia has reached 9,000 tonnes in the past 24 hours, which is the highest rate of harvest over the last 30 years in Georgia’s grape-producing Kakheti region. 

Staff of the special grape harvest coordination centre has been sent to prevent large queues near wine enterprises under such high processing conditions”, the National Wine Agency of Georgia reports. 

As of September 16, around 54,000 tonnes of grapes have been processed in Kakheti region.

Of the different varieties, about 35,000 tonnes of Rkatsiteli, 14,000 tonnes of Saperavi, 2,700 tonnes of Kakhetian Mtsvane and other varieties of grapes have been processed.
