Fast and Furious 9 filming has started in Tbilisi, movement to be restricted on Rustaveli Avenue

Traffic on Rustaveli Avenue will be restricted starting today until September 1, due to the scheduled shooting of a part of the Hollywood movie Fast and Furious 9, announces Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Starting August 26 from 23:00 pm traffic will be restricted from Freedom Square to the former Post Office building.
The flow of traffic coming from Avlabari will run through the Baratashvili Bridge to Liberty Square, as well as from Orbeliani Square to Tabukashvili Street.
Transport moving from the Rustaveli Metro area will be able to move to the former Post Office building and continue moving to the direction of the Republic Square. Transport moving on the Upper Vera will use the Griboedov and Barnovi streets to cross Rustaveli Avenue.
Police will regulate the flow of vehicles to avoid difficulties and if necessary patrol inspectors will inform drivers about alternative routes.
The shooting of the 10-minute segment for Hollywood film Fast and Furious 9 started on August 19, and is planned to end on September 20.
Therefore, the following streets are temporarily closed in Tbilisi and Rustavi, a town close to the capital:
- August 18-27: Vazha Pshavela Avenue
- August 26-September 3: Rustaveli Avenue
- August 30-September 8: Rustavi Market adjacent territory
- September 7: Freedom Square and Pushkini Street
- September 8-16: Nutsubidze 4th Plateau
- September 16:University Street
Some streets in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi will be closed, as the shooting of a 10-minute segment for Hollywood production Fast and Furious 9 is starting. Shooting is being overseen by Georgian production company Enkeny Films within the state programme ‘Film in Georgia’.
Locations, dates of Hollywood film announced
The streets of the Georgian capital of Tbilisi will soon be torn up by the shooting of a 10-minute segment for Fast and Furious 9, the filming of which begins August 19.
A part of Fast and Furious 9, an upcoming Hollywood action film, will be shot in Georgia. The first film was released in 2001 and began the initial trilogy of films. The trilogy was followed by other parts with two final films planned to be released in 2020 and 2021. Maximum 31,4 mln lari ($10,979,020/€9,788,345) will be spent on the filming in Georgia. Georgian movie studio Enkeny Films will shoot the movie.
A Hollywood film will soon begin production in Georgia. Shooting in Georgia will be overseen by Georgian production company Enkeny Films FF9. The decision was made after the visit of officials from Hollywood film producing companies HBO and Universal Pictures in April to learn more about the country’s unique filming environment.
Another episode of Hollywood franchise Fast and Furious 9 will be shot by a Belgian helicopter in addition to eight UK-owned unmanned aerial vehicles in Georgia, announces the Georgian Civil Aviation Agency (GCAA).
Negotiations between Enterprise Georgia and major Hollywood studios are underway to shoot several films and TV series in Georgia, said Enterprise Georgia director Mikheil Khidureli.
