24-year-old Giorgi Zangurashvili, detained yesterday for “illegally crossing” the so-called “border” by Russian occupation forces, has been released, the State Security Service of Georgia confirms.

The hotline was immediately activated after Zangurashvili was illegally detained, and the EUMM was also notified”, the Security Service reported.

Russian occupation forces detained 24-year-old Giorgi Zangurashvili for “illegally crossing” the so-called “border” yesterday near the village of Artsevi, where a Russian military base is located.

The de-facto security committee reported afterwards that the detainee had health problems and therefore he would be transferred to the Georgian side without any penalty.

On August 20, the de-facto Tskhinvali authorities released eight Georgians detained earlier on August 17 – 18 for “illegally crossing” the so-called “border.”
