Aleksandre Zazarashvili wins The Voice Kids Ukraine singing competition

Teenage singer Aleksandre Zazarashvili claimed the ultimate honour in the Ukrainian version of The Voice Kids talent show on Sunday, taking the win and audience's approval in the fifth season of the contest.

The Georgian-born performer captured the moment in the popular show with his rendition of the song All by Myself, written by Eric Carmer in the 1970s and popularised by a myriad of artists in the following decades.

Mentored by the Ukrainian pop duo Vremya i Steklo, Zazarashvili found himself in the final show of the season alongside local favourites Varvara Koshova and Yaroslav Karpuk, from the teams of artists Jamala and Dzidzio respectively.

The choice of the listeners was swayed in favour of the 12-year-old following his successful performance of the song that places heavy emphasis on vocal ability, earning the young artist his moment of glory.

Born in the village of Ruisi in central Georgia, Zazarashvili lives in a family of modest means in Georgia, a profile for the singer from organisers of the Ukrainian show reads.

The summary for the singer said the teenager dreams of joining the famed Teatro alla Scala opera house in Milan and had a goal of using his career to help children in foster care houses.

The Voice Kids show involves children aged between 6 and 14, with the fifth season featuring three teams of two contestants each, separately mentored by Jamala, Vremya i Steklo and Dzidzio.

The season finale was hosted on the night of July 7-8 and broadcast live by the 1+1 TV network.
