In October I had the honour to open the Frankfurt Book Fair, the most ancient in the world. This year’s guest of honour was Georgia, a close and important partner for the European Union. And it was really moving for me to talk about what binds us together as Europeans, our culture, our identity – or rather, our thousands of identities, which live together as part of a greater European identity”, wrote Mogherini in her article Twelve things to bring with us in 2019, which was published on her blog.
We are grateful to a true friend of Georgia @FedericaMog for her post at https://t.co/mpri2ONsd4, calling Georgia a close and important partner for the EU , which is a confirmation of EU-Georgia relations reaching higher level and significance of Georgia for EU.

Strategic Communication Advisor to the Prime Minister Irakli Chikovani mentioned the article and said that “Georgia will be where Europe is.”
It is very important that Federica Mogherini named Georgia’s status of Honourable Guest among the twelve major events. The Frankfurt Book Fair was not only a cultural event for Georgia, but it was a political announcement as well”, added Chikovani.
Georgian Culture Minister Levan Kharatishvili also made comment on Mogherini’s article and mentioned that “We are so glad that our effort to present Georgia honourably was evaluated as one of the major events of the year.”

In 2018 Georgia was selected as the Guest of Honour at the Frankfurt Book Fair, the world’s largest literary event, attended by more than 250,000 visitors annually.
Federica Mogherini attended the opening ceremony of the Georgian pavilion.
High Representative of the European Union mentioned during the opening ceremony of the event that the place of the European Union is where Georgia is represented in the status of an honourable guest.
