The Ministry of Internal Affairs has opened an investigation into the gas explosion which killed four people including a four-year-old child on 16 January in Tbilisi.
The explosion, which took place on the sixth floor of a newly-built nine-storey residential building in Didi Digomi district of Tbilisi, also injured eight others – six minors and two middle-age individuals.
The investigation will look into violations of safety procedures .
Initial testimonies gathered by police from witnesses show that a gas leak may have caused the explosion in the residential building.
