The Georgian Ministry of Foreign Affairs has sent condolences to the people of Poland and especially the city of Gdansk over the attack against the mayor of the city, Pawel Adamowicz, who died yesterday.
“Condemn in strongest terms the vicious and cruel attack against Pawel Adamowicz, Mayor of Gdansk, saddened by his violent death, our prayers and thoughts are with the family,” says the MFA’s statement on Twitter.
Adamowicz, aged 53, died yesterday after he was attacked and stabbed at a charity event on Sunday. He had held the position of mayor for more than 20 years.

The police have arrested a 27-year-old Gdansk resident with former convictions for bank robbery. Thee Polish media has reported that the attacker has accused the government for his alleged wrongful imprisonment.
