University applicants living in occupied regions to benefit from preparatory courses, easier admission process

University applicants living in the occupied regions of Georgia can now benefit from a university preparatory course the government has launched today.

The opening ceremony of the course was held at Tbilisi State University earlier today.

Tbilisi and Zugdidi state universities will conduct the preparatory course. The three-month pilot project was launched today.

The applicants will go through an intense instruction course, afterwards they will take two exams and continue studying at higher educational institutions without taking the Unified National Examinations.

The full one-year course will begin in September.

142 entrants were registered from Abkhazia and Tskhinvali regions in the courses so far.

We are taking another step towards a better future of the people living in the occupied regions,’’ the Minister for Reconciliation Ketevan Tsikhelashvili said.  

The educational programme will fully finance the university applicants. They will also be provided with accommodation. They will also receive 150 GEL scholarship while attending the courses.
