Georgian students achieve historic success at European Girls’ Mathematical Olympiad

The Georgian team came in 11th with 88 points at the European Girl’s’ Mathematical Olympiad - Georgia’s best result ever.

The competition was conducted in Kyiv on April 7-13. It had 196 participants from 37 European and different countries as well.

Georgia was ranked 19th in 2016, 22nd – in 2017 and 15th – in 2018.

The girls showed the following results individually:

  • Ana Onoprishvili (30 points, 17th place) – Gold medal;
  • Tamar Korkitashvili (27 points, 24th place) – Silver medal;
  • Mariam Ivardava (21 points, 56th place) – Silver medal;
  • Keti Sulamanidze (10 points, 149th place) – a certificate of honor.

The four study at N199 Public (Komarovi Physics and Mathematics) School of Tbilisi.

Notably, another former Komarovi School student Ana Maria Mekerishvili competed on behalf of the Netherlands team and was awarded a certificate of honor in Kyiv.
