January-March 2018: Passenger traffic at Georgian airports increases 36%

Georgia’s three international airports served 839,612 passengers in the first three months of 2018, which is a 36 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
The number of passengers who took regular or charter flights in Georgia increased in all three main airports of the country: Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport, Batumi International Airport and Kutaisi David Aghmashenebeli International Airport.
More specifically:
- Tbilisi International Airport served 724,024 passengers - a 37 percent increase y/y
- Kutaisi International Airport served 67,892 passengers - 15 percent increase
- Batumi International Airport served 36,762 passengers - a 55 percent increase
In the first three months of this year, Georgia’s rural airports in Mestia and Ambrolauri both served 806 passengers.
Georgia’s three international airports served 500,709 passengers in January-February of 2018, which is a 34.38 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Georgia’s three international airports served 4,073,959 passengers in 2017, which is a 43.43 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Georgia’s three international airports served 3,816,538 passengers in the first 11 months of 2017, which is a 44.48 percent increase year-on-year (y/y). Tbilisi International Airport alone served 2,943,417 passengers between January-November, which was a 40.89 percent increase y/y, announced Georgian Civil Aviation Agency.
Georgia’s three international airports served 3,258,382 passengers in the first nine months of 2017, which is a 49.35 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Georgia’s air navigation service provider Sakaeronavigatsia is marking its 25th anniversary today, opening a new air traffic control (ATC) office and a training centre at Tbilisi International Airport, equipped with state-of-the-art technology.
The record increase was mainly due to adding new, low-cost flights to European cities. 187 flights were carried out in May alone, which is a 26% increase in comparison to the same period last year.
Georgia’s three international airports served 1,608,124 passengers in the first five months of 2018, which is a 32 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Georgia’s three international airports served 2,103,151 passengers in the first six months of 2018, which is a 31 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Passenger traffic at Georgian airports has increased by 30.79 percent y/y during the first half of the current year.As seen in data released by the Civil Aviation Agency, 2,103,149 passengers traveled via Georgian airports during January-June of this year.
Georgia’s three international airports served 2,719,920 passengers in the first seven months of 2018, which is a 28 percent increase year-on-year (y/y).
Georgian airports have served 3,375,959 passengers during the last eight months, which is a 25 per cent increase in comparison to last year, an official statement of United Airports of Georgia says.
