The Parliament Speaker of Cyprus Demetris Syllouris  has held his first historic visit to Georgia, as despite the 25-years of diplomatic relations none of the parliament speakers of Cyprus has ever conducted an official visit to Georgia.

Syllouris held his first meeting with his Georgian counterpart Irakli Kobakhidze, who said that the visit will "further enhance” Georgia-Cyprus ties in many directions.

We have excellent political, economic and cultural ties. We have also spoken about Georgian reforms and our steps taken towards Euro-Atlantic integration,” Kobakhidze stated after the meeting.

The Georgian official stated that Georgia and Cyprus both faced territorial problems which could be settled only in a "peaceful manner”.

Syllourisis scheduled to met with Georgian president and parliament speaker. He will leave Georgia on March 21.
