President of Georgia Salome Zurabishvili has awarded the late Cypriot businessman Photos Photiades with the Presidential Order of Excellence.
President Zurabishvili said Photiades was a "great Cypriot friend", who supported Georgia and helped launch the strong ties that led to today’s visit of the Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades.

Giving the award to his daughter, Zurabishvili said the late businessman was “a great patriot and philantrophist” who has contributed a lot to developing diplomatic ties between Georgia and Cyprus.
Mr. Photos Photiades loved Georgia a lot. He had visited our country for several times and was supporting it so much that he even offered then Georgian Government his personal concept on establishing free economic areas with us”, Zurabishvili said.
Photos Photiades, a prominent businessman, died at the age of 98 last year.
