Kindergartens in Georgia’s Khoni and Tkibuli municipalities can now enjoy hot water thanks to a "People in Need” solar power project in Georgia, financed by the European Union (EU) and the Czech Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Solar water heaters and upgraded facilities in kindergartens, free-of-charge laundry facilities and cultural centres for the elderly are just some of the achievements of the "People in Need” project in Georgia.

Thanks to the project, the municipalities’ kindergartens long-standing problems with heating have been addressed. Priority has been given to rural kindergartens, where facilities have been upgraded...We have also supported the idea of solving problems in an innovative way. In some kindergartens, solar collectors have been installed. As a result, all year round, the kindergartens will enjoy hot water supply” said Teona Purstkhvanidze, social project coordinator at "People in Need”.

The mission of "People in Need” started in 2006 in Georgia.

A video released by the EU Delegation to Georgia shows the results of the project.
