8 solar power plants under consideration

Georgia is investigating the potential to power the country with solar energy, reduce its dependence on finite resources and offer a renewable energy solution to the thousands of people in Georgia who continue to live without electricity.

The Government of Georgia and Caucasus Solar Company have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) this week to start a technical-economic study for the construction of eight solar power plants in Georgia.

The MoU examines the possibility of building the following solar power plants in Georgia:

  1. Ksani Solar Power Plant
  2. Marneuli Solar Power Plant
  3. Kaspi Solar Power Plant
  4. Gldani Solar Power Plant
  5. Akhaltsikhe Solar Power Plant 1
  6. Akhaltsikhe Solar Power Plant 2
  7. Gardabani Solar Power Plant 1
  8. Gardabani Solar Power Plant 2

During the next 18 months, Caucasus Solar Company will complete its technical-economic study and present it to the Government of Georgia which will then make a decision on the construction of the solar power plants.
