The 2019 budget for Tbilisi City Hall is 927,600,000 GEL – 66 million GEL more than it was in 2018.
Tbilisi City Assembly (Sakrebulo) approved the city budget for 2019 yesterday.
This is the first time that the Tbilisi City Assembly approved such a high budget”, said Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze.
Kaladze said that 38% of the Tbilisi budget will be spent on infrastructural projects and about 35% will be spent on healthcare and social issues. About 328 million GEL has been allocated to the healthcare and social sector, which is about 22 million GEL more compared to the 2018 budget.
We have approved 357 million GEL for infrastructural projects which will be increased by 75 million GEL throughout 2019”, Kaladze said.
Funding for preschool institutions increased by 51 million GEL next year, said Vice Mayor Irakli Khmaladze.
11 new kindergartens will be built in 2019 and 23 million GEL has been allocated. Also, 20 million GEL will be provided for renovating the damaged buildings of existing kindergartens”, said Khmaladze.
Khmaladze said that about 23 million GEL will be spent on constructing and renovating bridges and tunnels in Tbilisi next year.
In 2019, the construction of two new multifunctional sport complexes will also start; tennis courts in Tbilisi’s Saburtalo district and in Vake Park will be renovated; Ilia Chavchavadze Avenue will be upgraded; two streets will be upgraded in Gldani district; new road will be built that will link Matchavariani and Gelovani streets – 18 million GEL will be allocated for these works.
Furthermore, 8 million GEL will be spent on upgrading Gorgasali Street and on the renovation of the Youth Art Palace in Tbilisi.
