Georgia exported about 78 million bottles of wine to 53 countries in January-November of 2018, announces the Georgian National Wine Agency.
In the reporting period Georgia generated $184.1 million from the sale of wine abroad.
Revenue increased by 19% from January-November 2017, while the volume of exports increased by 11%, said the Georgian National Wine Agency.
The top five countries that imported the most bottles of Georgia wine in January-November 2018 were:
- Russia – 48,587,707 bottles
- Ukraine – 9,525,172 bottles
- China – 6,275,909 bottles
- Kazakhstan – 3,396,452 bottles
- Poland – 3,026,652 bottles
Export growth was notable in the following countries:
- Great Britain – 34% increase (103,724 bottles)
- Japan – 30% percent increase (201,275 bottles)
- Poland – 27% increase (3,026,652 bottles)
To European countries and the US:
- Romania – 477% increase (99,774 bottles)
- The Czech Republic– 69% (57,708 bottles)
- The Netherlands – 41% increase (72,249 bottles)
- Lithuania – 19% increase (439,980 bottles)
- France – 15% increase (113,885 bottles)
To traditional export markets:
- Turkmenistan - 102% increase (135,294 bottles)
- Kyrgyzstan –34% increase (179,610 bottles)
- Azerbaijan – 31% increase (146,256 bottles)
- Mongolia – 27% increase (214,398 bottles)
- Ukraine – 24% increase (9,525,172 bottles)
Meanwhile, Georgia exported 17.8 million bottles of Georgian brandy (+9%) and 360,000 bottles of Chacha (+43%) abroad in January-November 2018.
In total, Georgia has sold $281 million worth of alcoholic beverages in January-November 2018, including wine, brandy, chacha and others.
