Number of tourists visiting Georgia increases 15% in October 2018

Georgia hosted 719,140 international travellers in October 2018, showing an increase of nine per cent year-on-year (y/y) announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
Of these 719,140 travellers, 407,221 were tourists, which is 15.1% more compared to the same month in 2017.
A positive trend was maintained by visitors from the European Union:
- Romania (+132%)
- Sweden (+92%)
- The Netherlands (+63%)
- Latvia (+62%)
- Poland (+51%)
- Germany (+41%)
The countries with the most significant increase were:
- Korea (+77%)
- China (+60%)
- Belarus (+35%)
- Kazakhstan (+34%)
- Saudi Arabia (+30%)
During the January-October 2018 Georgia hosted 7,507,517 international travellers (+11%) of which 4,179,323 were tourists (+17.5%).
How did Georgia benefit from more visitors?
About $2.57 billion was generated from international tourism in Georgia in January-September 2018, which was $438 million more compared to the same period of 2017, said the GNTA.
In the first and second quarter of 2018 international tourism revenue reached $1.36 billion.
Meanwhile, in all of 2017 international tourism revenue reached $2.7billion, which was $594 million more compared to 2016.
Georgia hosted 892,463 international travellers in September 2018, showing an increase of five per cent year-on-year (y/y) announces the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).
The summer tourist season in Georgia saw some 3,061,338 international visitors, showing an increase of 10.9 per cent compared to June-August 2017, announces Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA).

Holiday, leisure and recreation are the most common reasons for international travellers to travel to Georgia, while the next main purpose of the visit is visiting friends and relatives, show the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Over one million international travellers (1,039,027) visited Georgia in July 2018 of which 564,977 were tourists, says the Georgian National Tourism Administration. Year-on-year, the number of international travellers increased by 10.5 percent, while the number of tourists increased by 15 percent.
A total of 2.2 million international visitors ventured away from their home countries and visited Georgia in the third quarter (Q3) of 2018, which is a 10.2% year-on-year (y/y) increase, show the latest data published by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia has set a new record, hosting over eight million international travellers this year, the Georgian National Tourism Administration (GNTA) announces. Georgia hosted 8,105,829 international travellers in January-November 2018, showing an increase of 10.6% year-on-year (y/y). Of these travellers, 4,486,595 were tourists, which is 17.2% more compared to the same period of 2017.
