German Parliamentary State Secretary:
German investors find Georgia favourable for doing new business

German investors feel there is a favourable environment for doing new business in Georgia,  German Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy  
Thomas Bareiss says. 
 
Representatives from large German companies visited Georgia with Chancellor Angela Merkel yesterday and at the end of the day they held a round-table meeting with Georgian companies.
 
“Our delegation includes representatives from different sectors such as infrastructure, mining, education. We see good opportunities to establish different types of relations between us” said Bareiss.
 
Bareiss stated that there should the proper legal conditions and “the country should be safe. This is possible in Georgia and this will support the implementation of various projects”, he said.
 
He said that the German delegation also includes the chief executive director of German railway company Deutsche Bahn and stated that the company is interested in cooperating with Georgia.

Bareiss said that Deutsche Bahn’s interest towards Georgia is due to the country’s location and the opportunity of playing the role of a transport corridor.
 
To note, Deutsche Bahn and Georgian Railway entered a new stage of cooperation and signed an agreement this June, which laid the foundation for future joint projects in the rail freight sector.
 
Meanwhile, Deputy Economic Minister of Georgia Genadi Arveladze stated that it is important that heads of large German companies are visiting Georgia and that they personally receive information about the country’s preferable investment environment.
 
He also said that “the first officials of Georgia and Germany” agreed yesterday that joint groups and commissions will hold meetings at least twice a year. 
 
More specifically, the German delegation included the following companies: Knauf Gips KG, Ernst Klett AG, Deutsche Bahn AG, Caisley International GmbH, GP Günter Papenburg AG, Cronimet Holding AG / Cronimet Mining AG and Giesecke & Devrient.
