National Statistics Office of Georgia celebrates 99th anniversary

The National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat) is celebrating its 99th anniversary today.
On its 99th anniversary, Geostat recognised successful employees and business companies that were the best information providers, in addition to other international and local partner organisations as well.
Today, we will award with certificates of appreciation our partner organisations for fruitful cooperation; business companies for providing high quality information and our donors for facilitating the institutional strengthening of Geostat”, said the Executive Director of Geostat Gogita Todradze.
The first statistics office was established on July 25, 1919 and the first charter was approved in 1921.

Georgia’s monthly inflation rate amounted to -0.6 percent in June 2018, while compared to the previous month the Consumer Price Index (annual inflation) posted a 2.2 percent increase, reports the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Georgia’s external trade grew by 24.5 percent in January-May 2018 and reached $5.98 billion, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). In the first six months of 2018 the value of Georgia’s exports increased by 28.8 percent to $1.59 billion.
In the first quarter (Q1) of 2018 the real growth rate of gross domestic product (GDP) amounts to 5.3 percent year-on-year (y/y) in Georgia, says the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). In the reporting period the GDP deflator increased by 4.3 percent and the nominal GDP totalled 9.15 billion GEL.
