Georgian Foreign Minister participates in Council of Europe ministerial meeting

Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze is participating in the 127th meeting of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe (CoE).

The event is taking place from May 18-19 in Nicosia, Cyprus.

One of the issues on the agenda of the meeting is conflicts in Europe and the role of the CoE in settling them.

At this session Janelidze will deliver a speech about the difficult human rights situations in Georgia’s Russian occupied regions. Participants will also discuss CoE Secretary General Thorbjorn Jagland’s 15th Consolidated Report on the Conflict in Georgia issued last month.

As part of his visit to Cyprus Janelidze is scheduled to hold meetings with his counterparts. He already met with Cyprus Foreign Minister Ioannis Kasoulides.

The pair discussed both political and economic relations between the two states and also stressed the importance of an upcoming visit of Cyprus President to Georgia.
