Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi will host the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) Monitoring Committee session next year.
Vice Speaker of the Parliament of Georgia Tamar Chugoshvili, who is attending this year’s Monitoring Committee session in Strasbourg, France with the Georgian delegation, said the session will be held in the Georgian capital in the summer of 2018.
Boriss Cilevics and Kerstin Lundgren, co-rapporteurs for the monitoring of obligations and commitments of Georgia, delivered their reports to the committee today following the fact-finding visit to Tbilisi this March.
Per the PACE official webpage, their visit focused "on the political climate and political pluralism following the last parliamentary elections, the priorities for the new government, and constitutional and judicial reform”.
Chugoshvili said Cilevics and Lundgren have made positive estimations about Georgia compared to other countries, while their main recommendations concerned the necessity for judicial reform and constitutional changes that are currently underway in Georgia.
