India has named Georgia as the best shooting destination of the year, recognising the country’s stunning filming locations and favourable conditions created for industry players.

Georgia was honoured with the recognition within the International Film Business Awards (IFBA) at the Indywood Film Carnival held at Ramoji Film City in Hyderabad, southern India.

The trophy and the certificate recognising Georgia’s achievement was presented to Georgia’s Ambassador to India Archil Dzuliashvili.

Georgia became an attractive location to international filmmakers after the country launched the ‘Film in Georgia’ program, stimulating the film sector by offering favourable conditions for local and international filmmakers.

In particular, by filming in Georgia filmmakers can gain a 20-25 percent cash rebate on qualified expenses incurred here.

As well as enjoying financial benefits, the Government of Georgia aimed to create a favourable working environment for producers by removing any bureaucratic obstacles that may occur during the production process.

The Georgian side named ten reasons to film in Georgia:

  • Unique and captivating fusion of medieval and modern architecture with Asian, European, and Soviet Styles
  • Six climate zones and long sunny days
