European skiers Leo Slemett, Sam Anthamatten, and Markus Eder attempt to complete the first ski descent of the eponymous Mount Ushba in Georgia’s north-west Svaneti region.
From steep skiing to freestyle and pillow-lines – the team of three climbed the 4,694m high northern peak of the "Witches’ Sabbath” to attempt what has never been done before.
"In memory of Andreas Fransson” – with this caption opens a 20-minute short ski film about Svaneti.
All three skiers admitted it was the best ski experience they had in their life.
Mount Ushba, measuring 4,710m high, is one of the most notable peaks of the Caucasus mountain range. Due to its steep profile, glacier slopes, and unstable weather, Mount Ushba is regarded as the most difficult ascent in the Caucasus.
The adventure started on July 6, 2017 and lasted about two months. Screenshot from the documentary film.
Even though Ushba is the seventh highest peak in Georgia, reaching the summit is considered one of the hardest climbs in Georgia.
