Cooperation between Georgia and European Investment Bank (EIB), and Georgia’s ongoing and forthcoming projects were among the issues Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili and EIB Vice-President Vazil Hudak discussed today.

Georgian PM Kvirikashvili thanked Hudak for participating in the second Silk Road Forum, titled ‘Tbilisi Belt and Road Forum’ in Georgia’s capital.

Noting the country has gone through modernisation and transformation, EIB Vice-President Hudak said it is symbolic that the forum is being held in Tbilisi – the city that connects the east and the west.

Earlier today, EIB has signed three agreements which will make available up to 280 million GEL (about $103.24m/€87.35m*) to Georgian small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

Also the agreements include an additional 42 million GEL (about $15.49m/€13.10m*) financing specifically for small loans to SMEs, to sustain jobs and create new business opportunities in Georgia.

EIB will also support Georgia in developing infrastructure and municipal transport.

Hoping the cooperation between Georgia and EIB will be fruitful, PM Kvirikashvili thanked Hudak for the support.

The Tbilisi Silk Road Forum that opened yesterday, was attended by 34 official delegations, up to 2,000 delegates from more than 60 countries.
