Georgian President discusses agricultural development with farmers

Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met with farmers at the Presidential Palace today.
Chairperson of Georgian Farmers' Association Nino Zambakhidze spoke about new and ongoing agricultural projects, including:
- Farmers’ advisory;
- The Georgian farmers’ distribution company;
- Mobile application "Argonaut”;
- "Path to Farming” manual.

President Margvelashvili believes agricultural development is the response to some of the challenges Georgia is facing nowadays:
- Distribution of local products;
- Stability of currency exchange;
- Employment.
He further encouraged youth to think about professional education in agriculture thus to contribute to strengthening and developing the field.
The European Investment Bank (EIB) and the European Investment Fund (EIF) – jointly the EIB Group – will allocate €100 million in loands to small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine.
French specialists are helping Georgia in meat production and farm arrangement issues, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture.
A brand new poultry farm has been launched in Georgia’s eastern region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti within the state-run United Agro Project.
Farmers in Georgia and other emerging markets are now able to get useful agricultural tips and support via new online and mobile application ‘Traktor’.
Opening the biosafety point in Kvareli, eastern Georgia now has three such points in total including Sighnaghi and Dedoplistskaro opened earlier this year.
