New poultry farm opens in Mtskheta-Mtianeti region of Georgia

A brand new poultry farm has been launched in Georgia’s eastern region of Mtskheta-Mtianeti within the state-run United Agro Project.
With the total cost of $280,000 the farm will produce up to 20,000 hens per quarter that will be later sold out on the local market.

Launched by the Government of Georgia, the United Agro Project allows farmers from all over the country to easily learn about the existing and new agricultural services offered by the state and how to better benefit from these agricultural programs.

As of today there are six ongoing agricultural programs gathered under the United Agro Project. These are:
- Preferential Agro Credit;
- Enterprise Co-financing;
- Agro Insurance;
- Plant the Future;
- Assist Smallholder Farmers to Conduct Spring Works;
- Georgian Tea
Up to now more than 900 enterprises, both old and new, have been financed within the United Agro Project throughout Georgia.
Blackberry orchards have been planted on 4ha in Georgia’s western region of Imereti within the state-run project Plant the Future, aiming to stimulate the region’s agricultural industry.
506 fully equipped orchards have been financed by the government Plant the Future project across Georgia.
Highlights of Georgia’s 8 major agricultural projects
Today Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture released latest statistical data about the United Agro Project, which includes eight specific projects to support farmers and boost the agricultural sector in Georgia.
The Government has launched a new initiative allowing farmers from all over Georgia to easily learn about the existing and new agricultural services offered by the state and how to better benefit from these agricultural programs.
French specialists are helping Georgia in meat production and farm arrangement issues, announced Georgia’s Ministry of Agriculture.
Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili met with farmers at the Presidential Palace today. Margvelashvili believes agricultural development is the response to some of the challenges Georgia is facing nowadays.
A brand-new fruit and vegetable preserve factory has opened in the eastern region of Georgia, Shida Kartli. 20 locals are employed in the factory on a permanent basis, while 10 will be hired seasonally.
