A new €1.2 million European Union (EU) project will focus on access to international standard metrology and standardisation services in Georgia.

The project will be implemented by the British Standards Institution together with the Danish National Metrology Institute and the Latvian Standard (LVS) in association with the Georgian National Agency for Standards and Metrology (GEOSTM) for a duration of 21 months.

More specifically, the project will provide industries, businesses, workers in Georgia with access to quality metrology and standardisation services of international standard, through a constant focus on improving knowledge and skills of employees, upgrading technical infrastructure, and improving work procedures and processes.

This EU assistance program will be implemented in the form of a ‘Twinning’ project, through which bodies and institutions from the EU Member States will transfer their know-how and procedures to the beneficiary country institutions.

Twinning is a European Union instrument for institutional cooperation between public administrations of EU Member States and of beneficiary or partner countries.
