Hundreds of handmade dolls and puppets created by crafters from around Georgia will go on display at Tbilisi’s Folklore Centre tomorrow to celebrate the art form.
Figures made of wax, clay, porcelain and soft materials for both display and puppet shows will showcase the talents of 30 creators.
The works include pieces made around ethnographic themes, while others take historical eras as inspiration.

In total, around 200 dolls and puppets will be found by visitors at the Exhibition Hall of the Folklore State Centre of Georgia, located on Aghmashenebeli Avenue.
In an interview earlier today, Exhibition Hall manager Mia Nozadze told Rustavi2 channel program the centre held "expeditions” throughout Georgia for discovering talents of doll crafting.
Nozadze said the search was followed by consultations and selection of doll makers based on "taste, dresses and technique” used in their creations.

Among others, creators whose works will be featured in the display include teenage crafter Ana Tsotsanidze as well as Nana Okruashvil, established participant of various doll exhibitions.
Known for creating figures with moving elements, Okruashvili will present three of her new works at the event, with one of the dolls based on a 12th century Japanese writer woman.
Open through October 4, the display will mark its seventh edition this year. Some of the previous exhibitions also involved creators from Czech Republic and Ukraine, while this year’s event will focus on Georgian crafters.
