429 internally displaced families from Georgia’s breakaway regions of Abkhazia and Tskhinvali (South Ossetia) have received new apartments today in one of the central streets in the city of Kutaisi, Imereti region.
Georgia’s Minister of Internally Displaced Persons from the Occupied Territories, Accommodation and Refugees Sozar Subari, personally gave keys to their new owners.
Today I see children, elderly people, everyone together will now have the opportunity to live in human conditions. However, we all hope and firmly believe that this is a temporary home for each of you because our homes are in Sokhumi, Gagra, Gali, Tskhinvali and Akhalgori, where we will definitely return”, said Minister Subari addressing the IDPs.
Delivering the keys he thanked the families for dealing with all the hardship they have gone through during displacement from their original homes.
Subari further noted that a lot of other families are waiting for their turn to enter brand new appartnents. He said some new buildings are now under construction in Kutaisi where 480 more families will receive flats very soon.
