Foreign tourist saved in mountain rescue in Georgia

A foreign tourists has been saved by Georgian rescuers in a daring mountain rescue in northeastern Georgia.

The Emergency Situations Management Agency of the Interior Ministry received a notification from the Emergency Response Center "112” that a tourist had sustained a leg fracture on Mount Kazbek, which is the third-highest peak in Georgia.

Mountain rescuers arrived at the area as soon as the notification was received, the Ministry said. The tourist, whose identity or nationality has not been revealed, was brought by the rescuers to the helicopter with a stretcher, despite the difficult relief on 4500 meters above the sea level.

Along with the rescue team, a doctor also arrived at the place to render first aid to the injured tourist.

The tourist has been safely brought to Kazbegi hospital.
