Tbilisi International Airport introduces electric car charging station

Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi is continuing the development of infrastructure to encourage more people to buy and use electric vehicles.
A new electric car charging station has been arranged at the car park of Tbilisi Shota Rustaveli International Airport.
The new service will be available free of charge for any electrical car owner. The project is a result of cooperation between TAV Georgia and E-space [a local company, which is responsible for installing the new charging points in Tbilisi],” announced the TAV Georgia, the Turkish-owned company that operates Georgia's three airports.
To note Tbilisi international airport was nominated to be the first "Green Airport” in the Caucasus region in 2008.
Since July, 2016 the airport has been using solar energy as well.
There are several charging points for electric cars in Tbilisi already. One is located in Vake district, at Nugzar Endeladze Square, close to Vake Park. The other is at Europe Square near Rike Park in Old Town.
Also, Wissol, a network of petrol stations in Georgia, has recently opened its first charging station for electric cars in Tbilisi, on the 13th kilometer of Agmashenebeli Alley.

City welcomes first charging station
Electric cars are the way of the future and Georgia’s capital Tbilisi is leading the nation in developing infrastructure to encourage more people to buy and use electric vehicles.
Tbilisi City Hall’s Transport Service announced the two charging points would be at Europe Square near Rike Park in Old Town and in the city’s Vake district.
The Japanese government will allocate a non-project grant aid worth 500 million Yen (about $4.2 million USD) to the Georgian Government to allow it to purchase electric buses to modernise the capital city’s public transport service.
As of August 16, 2017 a total of 328 electric cars and 9,870 hybrid cars have been imported to Georgia, shows the data from the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
