Over 200 Georgian students will be able to study abroad thanks to the latest round of scholarships supported by the country's International Education Centre this year.

The 2017 edition of the centre's scholarship program marks fourth annual wave of studying opportunities granted to students planning to study at international academic venues before returning to the country for work.

A release by the IEC said aspiring applicants would receive scholarships for enrolling at MA, PhD and Arts programs as well as two international scholarship contests.

The selected participants will study at academic venues in countries including France, United Kingdom, United States and Switzerland.

Of the more than 200 students set to be granted the financial support, over 100 will take advantage of Georgian state budget financing.

Around 20 participants will be selected for the French-Georgian scholarship program, 12 applicants will receive the United States-Georgia Fulbright program benefits, and 80 students will be part of the Hungary student exchange program.

The IEC program is designed for students who have been accepted at MA or PhD programs at universities abroad and aims to support winning participants with tuition fees and provide them with full or partial coverage of residence expenses.

The participating students commit to return to Georgia after the conclusion of their studies and are offered opportunities for academic work at local universities and colleges.

Since the program's launch in 2014, the IEC has supported around 500 scholarships for Georgian citizens abroad, with some of the students already returning to Georgia after the conclusion of their studies.
