Georgia’s permanent representative to the United Nations (UN) Kaha Imnadze has discussed the Russian occupation of Georgian regions with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres.
Imnadze provided the Secretary General with information on the unlawful process of "borderisation” and recent land-grabbing by Russia in the Georgian village of Bershueti.

"The process of borderisation not only grossly violates the fundamental human rights of local residents, but also seriously damages the security situation on the ground and deters Georgia’s efforts of peaceful resolution of the conflict”, Imnadze said.
He stressed the importance of creating international security mechanisms and the necessity of human rights monitoring on the ground.
Imnadze told Guterres that it is important for the UN to be involved in the conflict resolution.
Last week another fact of creeping occupation was reported in Georgia. Russian occupation forces deployed in breakaway Tskhinvali region moved the occupation line further into Georgian territory. They illegally placed a new so-called border sign in the village of Bershueti in the Gori Municipality, which saw about 10 more hectares of Georgian soil in the heart of the country become occupied by Russia.
