Georgia’s Interior Minister Giorgi Mgebrishvili is familiarizing European experts with the Georgian model of analyses-based police activities, which refers to more efforts for crime prevention and more effective investigations.

From the end of 2015 we launched elaborating the model,” Mgebrishvili told European experts in Tbilisi, who attend the Ministry’s international conference-Intelligence-Led Policing the Path to a Smarter Policing” between July 11 and 13.

The Minister stressed that the analyses-based model has been activated in three different police departments as a pilot program since autumn 2016 and "outcomes were quite impressive.”

He stated the Ministry trained and employed 40 analyses, who gained relevant theoretical and practical knowledge, within the pilot program.

We plan to introduce the analyses-based police activities model in all police departments in Georgia in the near future,” the Minister announced.

The model also envisages modern systems for police for more effective investigations and, what is more important, for preventing crime.

Georgia’s current police model is more focused on investigating a crime rather than their prevention.

The analyses-based concept in Georgian police is financially supported by the EU.
