Georgia and the United States (US) are recognising the need for mutual assistance in matters related to the administration and enforcement of customs administration.
The agreement between the Government of the US and the Government of Georgia regarding mutual assistance between their customs administrations was signed in Brussels, Belgium within the annual session of the World Customs Organization (WCO), held on July 6 -8.
The Agreement includes issues related to customs duties and taxes, regarding international conventions containing prohibitions, restrictions and special measures of control in respect of specific goods.
The Georgian delegation led by head of Revenue Service Giorgi Tabuashvili attended the WCO annual session in Belgium together with heads of Customs administrations representing the members of the WCO.
This was the 129th/130th Sessions of the WCO Council, which was focused on a number of key issues including trade facilitation, security initiatives, combating illicit financial flows and customs-tax-cooperation, in particular the challenges and opportunities from a Customs perspective.
