June is yet again proving to be a difficult month for Georgia in terms of weather.
Heavy rainfall over the past two days has caused major infrastructural problems in the Samegreo-Zemo Svaneti region in the western part of Georgia.

Most of the villages in this area were drastically flooded. Small village rivers have swollen over their riverbeds, flooding nearby agricultural lands, roads and houses too.
In the Khobi Municipality flood water swept away a truck and it took a rescue operation to save the driver.

In the Village of Nakiani landslides occurred at several different locations, blocking central road. Roads were heavily flooded in five other villages.

A bridge connecting the villages of Chkhorotsku and Akhuta was also swept away.
Six other villages are left without electricity. Authorities said the power supply will be restored by the end of day today.

Special commissions are set up to estimate the financial loss in each municipality.

A major flash flood in Georgia’s capital of Tbilisi two years ago, which turned out to be Tbilisi’s worst natural disaster in decades, also occurred in June.
