Travelling to Japan will become easier for Georgian citizens soon.
Japanese Minister of Foreign Affairs Fumio Kishida revealed Japan’s plans to simplify visa procedures for Georgian citizens as well as to promote Georgia among Japanese tourists so that the two countries develop close people-to-people connections.
Kishida and Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze met in Tokyo yesterday during Janelidze’s official visit to Japan.
Kishida also said that, taking the safe environment in Georgia into consideration, Japan’s Foreign Ministry will improve Georgia’s profile on the Travel Adviser category on the Ministry’s website so that more Japanese tourists become interested in Georgia.
Another important agreement the two Ministers reached is to intensify investment cooperation.
Kishida said that Georgia and Japan will begin negotiations on a bilateral investment agreement. In his words, this will be a positive signal for Japanese business circles to use Georgia’s investment opportunities.
Janelidze stressed Georgia’s strategic location and liberal business climate.
During his visit Janelidze is holding meetings with managers of top Japanese companies as well, including Toshiba and Hitachi.
