Georgia has all the practical instruments for integrating into NATO, Georgian Foreign Minister Mikheil Janelidze said at today’s NATO Parliamentary Assembly (NATO PA) session.

We are firmly following the path for integrating into NATO… We keep on working to turn the  Georgian people’s aspirations into reality by making the country the full member of the alliance”, Janelidze said.

Foreign Minister Janelidze participates in today’s political committee meeting of the NATO PA spring session that is underway in the Georgian capital of Tbilisi from May 26 until May 29.

Janelidze said since regaining its independence from the Soviet Union 26 years ago, Georgia has been striving to return to its European family. He said Georgia’s aspiration to become member of NATO and European Union is both the choice of Georgian people and a clearly declared position of the Government of Georgia.

Minister Janelidze thanked Georgia’s partner countries for supporting Substantial Georgia-NATO Package, which aims to strengthen Georgia’s defensive capabilities and bring the country closer to NATO.
