Schoolchildren in an eastern Afghan village received presents from Georgian peacekeeping troops, who met the local kids earlier today in their first humanitarian mission.
Children studying in the Bagh-e Alam village girls’ school received notebooks, writing tools, paper glues and other items sent from Georgia.
The presents were brought to them by a group of service members from the 23rd Battalion of the II Infantry Brigade serving in the international Resolute Support mission.

The 23rd Battalion departed Georgia for their seven-month rotation within the mission in March. The unit is tasked with providing security for the Bagram Air Base, located north of Kabul.
