Georgia’s exports worth $443m in January-March 2016

The value of Georgia’s exports and imports (External Merchandise Trade) has decreased year-on-year (y/y) claims the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).
Preliminary data published today showed Georgia’s External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-organised trade) amounted to $2.136 million in January-March 2016. This was a seven percent drop compared to the same period of 2015.
Furthermore Geostat said the value of the country’s exports decreased 13 percent to $443 million, while imports decreased six percent to $1.693 million in January-March 2016.
Georgia’s trade deficit equalled $1.25 million, which made up 59 percent of total trade turnover.
Georgia is increasing its role as an important trade partner for the European Union (EU), and experiencing increased external trade turnover year-on-year (y/y).
