Georgia’s External Merchandise Trade increases by 20%

External Merchandise Trade (excluding non-organised trade) of Georgia amounted to $5.7 billion in the first six months of 2016, according to preliminary data released by National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat). 

This figure was 20 percent higher when compared to the January-June data of 2015, stated Geostat. 

During the first half of 2016 the value of export decreased by 12 percent reaching $948 million, while imports grew 30 percent and were worth $4.7 billion.

The trade deficit equalled $3.8 billion and its share in trade turnover constituted 67 percent.
