Rugby: Georgia ranks 13, climbs above Italy in latest world rating

The updated list saw Georgia rank 13th in the world – up one spot higher than its previous position at 14.

Georgia has improved its world rating and is now the 13th best rugby nation in the world and above Italy who plays in the prestigious Six Nations.

World Rugby, the international governing body of rugby union, yesterday updated its world ratings reflecting the changing performances of teams.

The updated list saw Georgia rank 13th in the world – up one spot higher than its previous position at 14.

This change saw Italy, who previously ranked 12 in the world, move down to 14th on the list.

According to the new list Georgia is now the sixth best rugby nation in Europe.

New Zealand continued to top the list, followed by Australia then South Africa.

The nations who climbed the most spots were Brazil, who moved up four places from 42nd to 38th position, and Germany, who climbed from 23rd to 26th place.

Other nations whose ranking changed were Chile and Portugal, who each fell three places to be ranked 27th and 30th respectively.
