More than two million tourists visited Georgia in 2015

Almost three million tourists have come to Georgia in 2015, and trends show visitor numbers are growing.

In total 2,278,562 tourists visited Georgia last year, which was 2.2 percent more than in 2014.

Meanwhile, head of the National Tourism Administration Giorgi Chogovadze said in 2015 the record number of international travellers visited Georgia.

Chogovadze said, the number of international visitors increased by 6.9 percent in 2015 compared to 2014.

In particular, the number of international visitors amounted to 5,897,685, which was seven percent or 382,126 visitors more than in 2014.

Ten countries, from which the largest number of international travellers arrived in Georgia during 2015, were Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Ukraine, Israel, Poland, Germany, Kazakhstan, the US.

The growth rate was maintained from the following countries:

  • Saudi Arabia – 80 percent;
  • United Arab Emirates – 75 percent;
  • Belarus – 51 percent;
  • Israel – 40 percent;
  • Kazakhstan – 29 percent;
  • Italy – 15 percent;
  • Lithuania – 13 percent;
  • Latvia – 13 percent;
  • Germany – 10 percent; and
  • The United States – 10 percent.
