Georgia is doing all it can to make sure Europe is aware of the vast reforms carried out to move the country closer to the European Union (EU).

Today Georgia’s Prime Minister Giorgi Kvirikashvili invited European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker to Georgia so he can learn more about the reforms implemented in Georgia.

The Georgian official made the offer while meeting Junker this afternoon in Brussels, Belgium.

Kvirikashvili said Junker’s visit was important as by being here he could see specific action that’s been taken to progress Georgia towards the EU space.

Georgia’s Association Agreement (AA) with the EU and its implementation, the Deep and Comprehensive Free Trade Area (DCFTA) and visa liberalisation-related issues were also discussed by the Georgian and European Commission officials today.

Kvirikashvili said Georgia’s trade relations with the EU had advanced, and thanks to the AA, more Georgian products were now being sold in the EU market.

Before the meeting ended Kvirikashvili thanked Juncker for the European Commission’s continual support for Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
