Tbilisi budget 2017 approved: How much is it?

Tbilisi Sakrebulo (City Council) has approved next year’s budget for Georgia’s capital city.
In 2017 Tbilisi City Hall will enjoy a budget of over 800 million GEL.
The exact 2017 Budget is 801,302,000 (about $322 million/€300 million*).
Sakrebulo voted on the 2017 Budget last night. The city’s main financial document was presented at the meeting by Mayor David Narmania.
Opposition members of the City Council did not support the budget document however the 2017 Budget was approved with 31 votes in favour and seven against.
According to the 2017 Budget, Tbilisi’s priorities next year will be:
- Developing and upgrading public transport;
- Improving road infrastructure;
- Planting of greenery;
- Lighting; and
- Rehabilitation of historic parts of Tbilisi.
*Currencies are equivalent with the latest National Bank of Georgia exchange rate.

Georgia’s capital city is growing immensely, bringing more and more people into the area. With this rapid urbanization, Tbilisi is becoming seriously noisy, says the Local Government.
Georgia’s capital Tbilisi is about to undergo a rapid transformation to upgrade the old, dated city into a modern, European city boasting more pedestrian-friendly places, recreation zones, gardens and parks.
The 2018 budget for Tbilisi City Hall is about 880 million GEL, 60 million GEL more than was planned initially.
Georgian parliament has approved the country’s next year’s budget. In 2018 Georgia will enjoy a budget of 12.441 billion GEL (about $4.827/€4.108 billion*). This is 949 million GEL more than it was in 2017.

The Georgian government has presented a bill to parliament requesting 14.2 billion GEL ($4.77 bln/€4.37 bln) for the 2020 budge, including budgetary funds of 12.99 billion GEL ($4.37 bln/€4 bln), grants of 45 million GEL ($15.12 mln/€13.85 mln) and credits of 1.17 billion GEL ($0.39 bln/€0.36 bln).
