Georgia is taking genuine steps to gain energy independence by utilising all of the country’s natural resources.
Today it was confirmed a new Hydro Power Plant (HPP) – Kheledula 3 – will be built on Khedula River in Georgia’s Lower Svaneti region.
Turkish company Anadolu Tasıt Ticaret A.S. will invest $90 million to build the 50.77 megawatt Kheledula 3 HPP in Georgia.
Today Georgia’s Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze and Anadolu Tasıt Ticaret A.S. Energy Group Coordinator Tugban Izzet Aksiyom signed a deal to start construction of the new power station.
Following the deal Anadolu Tasıt Ticaret was obliged to supply Georgia with electricity during the period when there is a power deficit (mostly during the winter months) in the country.
Meanwhile, the Turkish company has already funded the creation of the Paravani HPP in Georgia’s Samtskhe Javakheti region.
